5 Free Blogging Platforms to Consider

Are you struggling with the concept of starting a new blog but don’t know how to get started? Most bloggers will recommend purchasing your own domain and hosting account right from the start, especially if you want to make a serious go at making money online. Others may find free blogging platforms more beneficial for their personal blogging and hobby purposes. Here are some blogging platforms to consider.

WordPress.com

WordPress.com, not to be confused with WordPress.org, is a free online blog hosting platform. You’ll create a subdomain of your own as part of wordpress.com and can customize your templates and content at will. Using the WordPress.com platform will make it easy to transition your content to a WordPress platform on your own domain if you decide to upgrade later. The downside is that wordpress.com blogs are rarely allowed to add monetization features.

Blog.com

Blog.com has been around since 2005 and is incredibly easy to use. It’s particularly helpful for those who want to focus on sharing images. There are both free and paid versions of this site, allowing you a bit more flexibility when it comes time to upgrade from your free option.

LiveJournal.com

LiveJournal.com is a great free blogging service. There are some paid features, but upgrading really only gives you the option to add some extra user icons or utilize a few other special posting features. You’ll have not only a private journal (with security features allowing you to make posts public, private, or semi-private, but access to a wide variety of public forums and groups as well.

Blogger.com

Blogger.com is owned and operated by Google and is one of the most popular free blogging platforms on the web today. It’s incredibly easy to use and is most often recommended to bloggers who have little experience setting up a blog or writing entries. Blogger.com does allow you to monetize your blog through the use of Adsense and other affiliate programs.

InsaneJournal.com

InsaneJournal.com is another free blogging platform that looks and operates in a manner very similar to LiveJournal. While not great for professional blogging, it’s easy to use and gives you a platform for voicing your opinions and ideas.
There are dozens of free blogging platforms to choose from. With so many, there’s really no reason for you to put off the start of your first blog. Pick the one you like best and start writing. You won’t be sorry!
